The Healing Stone® is a Japanese day spa specializing in ganbanyoku (hot stone FIR sauna) and massage. We are a for women only service with a fresh and unique approach to health and beauty - employing a varied and customizable blend of ganbanyoku and therapeutic massage.

A visit to The Healing Stone® is like entering another world - a haven from the frenetic pace of daily life. A place to relax, self compose, recuperate and energize.

What’s so special about The Healing Stone®? We believe that the whole is far more than the sum of its parts. A massage can be great, but it is still just a massage. Combine that with the right environment and you get an “experience”.

♨"Massage" the Quintisential Beauty Treatment

At The Healing Stone®, massage is more than just a therapeutic treatment of pain or discomfort. We believe effective massage to be the quintessential beauty treatment. Beauty is more than just a layer of makeup. How we feel inside invariably shows on the outside. Our bodies and personas can be twisted and maligned by the presence of physical pain and discomfort. Relieving pain, and discomfort makes it easier for that inner beauty to shine through.

♨What's Ganbanyoku

GANBANYOKU IN JAPAN

Ganbanyoku, in Japanese, means “bedrock bathing” without hot water. There are thousands of ganbanyoku in Japan where they are highly regarded for their therapeutic powers. Ganbanyoku rooms come in a huge variety of sizes, shapes and configurations but all share a common functional design.
They all radiate far-infrared (FIR) and emit negative ions. A little bit similar to an infrared sauna, yet gentler and more penetrating. At the end of a typical ganbanyoku session you will feel relaxed yet energized. Externally you will also notice a difference, your skin will glow, feeling smooth and rejuvenated. The summer heat will seem less oppressive and you will be infused with an overall sense of well being.

♨How it Works

The user, wearing special ganbanyoku clothes and using a towel sheet, lies directly on the rock bed, rotating occasionally to ensure total coverage front and back.  The far infrared heat penetrates deep beneath the skin surface, it stimulates water molecules and triggers a process called vibrational resonance.

Toxins are flushed out of fat cells; blood circulation improves and metabolism increases. As the body warms up, sweat glands perspire profusely cleansing the body. The process causes the sebaceous glands to secrete copious amounts of sebum that helps restore, condition and protect the skin. The profusion of negative ions amplifies the healing effect and helps reduce stress by inducing a heightened sense of relaxation. Negative ions are odourless, tasteless, and invisible molecules that we inhale in abundance in certain environments. Think mountains, waterfalls, and beaches. Once they reach our bloodstream, negative ions are believed to produce biochemical reactions that increase levels of the mood chemical serotonin, helping to alleviate depression, relieve stress, and boost energy. ♨the power of ganbanyoku

Ganbanyoku uses naturally generated FIR that deeply penetrates to the cellular level, causing blood capillaries to dilate, stimulating circulation, increasing metabolism between blood and tissue – promoting cell regeneration.
Our beds, lined with over a ton of Himalayan rock salt, infuse the air with negative ions. Calming, soothing and relaxing, all you need to do is lie down and let nature do its work.

  • Helps clear skin & boosts collagen and elastin production
  • Aids in detox – helps expel metabolic waste promoting healthy sweat
  • Reduces stiffness – great for muscle relaxation and tissue repair
  • Helps relieve swelling – good for oedema
  • Stimulates blood circulation & boosts metabolism
  • Helps regulate the autonomic nervous system
  • Boosts the immune system & your general sense of well-being

If you are feeling lethargic and run down, or if you suffer from cold hands and feet, even in Summer, then ganbanyoku is for you.

♨how to Use Ganbanyoku

Ganbanyoku uses far infrared heat and negative ions to tweak your circulatory system and boost your metabolism. It is a simple and thoroughly relaxing process, however to maximise the therapeutic benefits of ganbanyoku there are some simple guidelines you should follow...

Lie Down and Relax

Ganbanyoku Hot Stone FIR Sauna

Spread your towel sheet on the Himalayan rock bed and lie down (face up or face down as you please).
Ensure to rotate periodically to ensure all parts of your body are exposed to the far infrared heat.
Repeat this process for as long as you feel comfortable.

Take A Break

After about 30 minutes (give or take) you will start to notice beads of sweat forming on your skin, soon your whole body will start to sweat profusely. At this stage it is good to take a break, go outside, cool down and drink fluids.
Repeat the process as many times as you feel comfortable.
Remember it is meant to be a relaxing process, do not push yourself and take your time.

Maximise the Benefit

After your session allow yourself to dry naturally, if you use a towel, do not rub simply dab away any excess moisture. The special ganbanyoku wear will wick away most of the moisture without sticking to your skin.
It is recommended not to shower for at least two hours after and when you do try not to use soap. This will maximise the effect on your skin. The following day your skin should feel silky smooth and refreshed.

♨why the special ganbanyoku wear?

The outfit we supply is specifically designed for ganbanyoku. The material protects the skin from direct contact with heated surfaces. At the same time the material acts like a wick sucking away your perspiration. It is light and comfortable and will make the experience so much better.
